His freshmen year of high school, James was already making a big impression on his coaches and teammates, leading his team in a 23-1 season and a Division III title. He repeated this success his sophomore year, leading his team to a 26-1 season and another Division III title. He was also named "Mr. Basketball" for the state of Ohio, the only sophomore to ever do it. He attracted attention from the higher-ups in the game, including Shaquille O'Neal and the folks at ESPN 2. And he only got better from there.
During his second season as a pro, James became the youngest player in the NBA to ever score a triple-double; that is, he scored double digits on three out of the five statistical categories. His star was rising incredibly fast, as he was already averaging over 25 points per game. While the Cleveland Cavaliers failed to make the NBA Playoff's, they still defeated the Western All-Stars 125-115,and finished with a 42-40 game season. King James was on his way to the throne.
